I’m sure that most would agree that the folks we surround ourselves with on a day to day basis play a significant role in the choices we make, and sometimes the outcome of our circumstances. Surrounding ourselves with people who are going to have positive and meaningful influences in our life is good, but our number one goto person should always be the Lord. The truth is: He is the only one we know for sure wants the best for us; He is for us and not against us. When we trust our lives to Him, we need not be concerned about ANYTHING.
The Israelites experienced this truth over and over, as they were on their journey to take hold of the Promised Land. The Lord fought all their battles for them, leaving them in awe of His might and power.
In our own strength, we may seem like a grasshopper, but as a warrior in the army of the Lord, we “can advance against a troop and scale a wall” (2 Samuel 22:30 NIV). As Joshua reminded the Israelites “one of you routs a thousand” (Joshua 23:10 NIV). Why? Because it is the Lord our God who fights for us. Yes, you can believe it! We are over-comers and conquerors before the battle even begins. What exciting promise and truth. So then, there is no need for us to be afraid or discouraged. As long as we continue to put our gaze and our complete trust and confidence in the Lord, we know the outcome. We win!
Thank you Lord for the victory that we obtain through Jesus Christ. Help us not to put our confidence in man, but in you, our Lord. Amen!
